Los niveles son anuales (Primer numero) y se realizan en bloques trimestrales (2do numero) de 20 sesiones (10 semanas)

 

Level 1.1

Basic pronouns and verbs; be, auxiliary do, have. Vocabulary about home, work, food, travel and directions. Alphabet, pronunciation, spelling and numbers. Prepositions of place and time. Some listening and reading. Present simple and continuous (including future use). Demonstratives, Interrogatives and constructing questions and negatives. Adjectives and possessive adjectives. There is/are. Basic conversation in class about the weekend, where you live and work, etc.  

Level 1.2

Adverbs. Basic determiners e.g. some and any. Past simple tense and pronunciation. Dates. Object pronouns. Infinitives of purpose. Modal auxiliary verbs can and would. Review of tenses. Expanded conversation including future plans, making requests, imaginary situations, listening, vocabulary and reading. “going to” for the future. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.  

Level 1.3

Comparatives and superlatives. Modal auxiliary verb will. Review of future tenses. Present perfect tense. For, since and during. Just, already, still and yet. Review of past tenses. The verb get. Expanded vocabulary conversation, listening and reading. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.    

Level 2.1

Reviews of the tenses and grammar structures seen before,e.g, present simple and continuous, past simple and present and past perfect and future tenses. Using different vocabulary, reading and listening. Extended conversation. Other determiners. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.  

Level 2.2

Continuation of reviews using extended  vocabulary, listening and reading. Other modal auxiliary verbs, e,g,  could, should, must, might, may etc. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.    

Level 2.3

The passive. Conditional structures. Review of the verb get. More complex determiners, e.g., each, every, either, neither, etc. The structure In case. Reported speech. Past perfect tense. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding. More conversation and improving vocabulary. Listening and reading.  

Level 3.1

Reviews of the tenses and grammar structures seen before,e.g, present simple and continuous, past simple and future tenses. Review of  some modal auxiliary verbs, e.g, will, would, should. Review of prepositions and articles. Using different vocabulary, reading and listening. Extended conversation, listening and reading. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.  

Level 3.2

Review of present and past perfect tenses. For, since and during. Just, already, still and yet. Review of past tenses. Defining and non-defining relative clauses. Complete review of all modal auxiliary verbs, could, might, may, etc.. Comparatives and superlatives. The passive. Extended conversation, listening and reading. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding.  

Level 3.3

Conditional structures. Detailed study  of determiners, e.g. each, every, either, neither, all, both, half, etc, the verb get, and reported speech. The causative have/get structure. Extended conversation, listening and reading. Watching an English-subtitled film for vocabulary and improving understanding. At times the classes are simply conversation and correction with explanations about the errors.  

Levels 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3

These are intermediate levels, so the students have seen the grammar in levels 1, 2 and 3 above. The classes involve conversation, listening and reading. When we find that a tense or grammatical stucture isn’t clear to a student, it is explained. We also have a variety of different topics from books, newspapers, etc. and we watch an English film in each term to improve vocabulary and understanding. Sometimes, new structures are explained. The students can ask the teacher to explain any tense or structure that is unclear to them.  

Levels 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3

The level of this course is equivalent to that of the first certificate exam. There are exercises, reading and listening, but the emphasis is on conversation and correction with explanation. We watch an English film in each term to improve vocabulary and understanding. Sometimes, new structures are explained. The students can ask the teacher to explain any tense or structure that is unclear to them.
